When I was a kid, I loved reading. I always had a book in my hands, but as I grew up I lost that passion for reading. At the end of June, I made a decision that I wanted to reignite the love of reading. I made a commitment to read 1 book a month for the rest of 2017. When I started to put this reading list together, I decided to focus on books that are non-fiction that will help me develop both professionally and personally. These are the books that I have selected so far for my reading list for the rest of 2017.
Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchek
Boxing analogies are used in this book to explain how to market your business on social media. I love social media and boxing, so I think this book will be a home run! I think reading this book will also help me to grow my business utilizing social media platforms that I’m less familiar with.
You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
I decided to read this book based on the recommendation of a friend and because I love the title! The description claims that it “will basically show you how to create a life you totally love, and how to create it NOW”. I’m all about having a Jammin life, so if this book can live up to this claim I’m sure I’ll love it!
Get Over Your Damn Self by Romi Neustadt
Another book with an awesome title! This book is described as a “no-BS” guide to building a direct sales business and to “work on your mindset so you stop over complicating it all and stop letting the negative voices in your head win”. Sounds like exactly what I need to continue to grow my business!
Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
In this book Shonda Rhimes “chronicles how saying YES for one year changed her life―and how it can change yours, too”. I have loved Shonda Rhimes since the first season of Grey’s Anatomy, so I’m excited to read her book! I’m hoping it will serve as inspiration to get out of my shell and try new things.
Start With Why by Simon Sinek
This book is based on the idea that “People don’t buy what you do. They buy why you do it”. I chose the book because I feel that my “Why” has gone fuzzy in my direct sales business. My hope in choosing this book was that it would help me get my why back in focus.
I haven’t decided on my 6th book yet, so I want to hear from you! What books have you read and enjoyed? Leave a note in the comments with a book that has inspired you either personally or professionally and I might choose it for the last book on my 2017 reading list.
